Like many others in the industry, Edyta Schell didn’t immediately start in real estate. The mother of two initially worked in marketing and advertising, even working for NBC for seven years. Once she had her kids, she realized she wanted to stay home with them until they started kindergarten, which is when she decided to take the leap into real estate.
Schell and her family immigrated to Chicago from Poland when she was only 5, and she hasn’t left the Windy City since. She even attended Roosevelt University because she couldn’t imagine leaving and has lived all over the city, including in the UIC area, Lakeview, Logan Square, Fulton Market and Portage Park, where she now resides with her kids and husband, who’s been in the mortgage industry for over 20 years.
Schell got her start in real estate through her husband’s friend’s small brokerage, which was looking for rental agents at the time. Since then, she has displayed a proven track record of putting her clients’ best interests first. Whether the person is buying or selling, Schell always makes sure to do an initial consultation to talk about the process, expectations, market statistics and what can go right and wrong.
Named a Chicago Association of Realtors top producer in 2020 and 2021, Schell makes herself available to clients 24/7. One told her she believes Schell would do anything to get things done, which she’d agree with. “I value the relationship I have with my clients,” she says. “I am truly vested in my clients and feel a personal connection to each and every one of them and their homes.”
Schell believes in treating people with fairness and equality and says that she’s good at calming people down during the stressful process of buying and selling a home. “This year, especially, emotions were running very high,” she adds. “Being able to talk everyone back to reality has been key.” Schell also believes that maintaining professionalism during such a tumultuous time has been a tremendous accomplishment in itself.
