Prior to coming together to sell in Chicago, the members of the DMG Chicago office came from a variety of backgrounds that prepared them for the fast-paced nature of Chicago real estate. Team member Tory Rezin worked for a global marketing firm, developing campaigns for various Fortune 500 companies. “During that time, I developed skills related to getting to know clients and developing a strategy to achieve their goals,” she says. “Many agents will say anything to secure a listing when that isn’t necessarily in the best interests of the client or the market. It’s important to get listings and work together with other agents, but the reality is we need to live and breathe the market and make it our job and responsibility to educate and provide the best advice possible on what the strategy should be.”
Having come straight out of college to DMG, team member Caitlin Smith surpassed $15 million in sales in 2021. However, she says one of the greatest joys of her career has been watching her rental clients turn into homeowner clients. Smith started the DMG Rental Program in 2017 by going to various colleges and putting on presentations to students about renting in Chicago. After helping those clients find their first apartments, Smith is now helping them transition into first-time homeowners. “Starting as Dawn’s assistant, I got to learn the business inside and out next to Dawn, while also starting to build my own book of business in the city,” she shares. “It was the best way to start.”
For team member Allie Cipra, her biggest DMG accomplishments come when she gets referrals from past clients, because it means her clients trust her and her advice. “Clients are passing along my name to their family and friends to help them find their dream homes,” she says. “It is a real honor.” Cipra adds that patience and trust are two hallmarks of her client-Realtor relationships.
