For Sylvia Kos, real estate was a path she was destined to take from a young age. She specializes in the western suburbs and learned the market by growing up in Hinsdale and Burr Ridge, watching her father build homes in the area. “Real estate and construction was part of my childhood,” says Kos, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago Hinsdale.

While she is educated as an interior designer, Kos found her calling in selling homes instead of designing them. “When I started to work on design and construction aspects, I quickly realized there is no person who knows more about this house than me,” she explains. “I got my real estate license and never looked back. I use my design and construction background to help clients make the right decision for their purchase.”

Kos leverages her design background and construction roots to help her clients make their house a home. “I help my clients envision themselves in the space — I help them way past the closing table” she says. “I help them choose paint colors, counter tops, stain colors for floors and more. We have a wide network of contractors that we work with and I love to be a resource for my clients.”

Kos prides herself on the personal relationships she develops with clients. “My clients say they started looking for an agent and ended up with a longtime friend,” she shares. “I always put my business and clients first. I am extremely responsive and always there to show homes and answer questions. This starts with the fact that I am truly passionate about real estate and my business.”

Pre-pandemic, Kos enjoyed traveling with her husband. She belongs to the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club —a philanthropic organization that raises money for grants and disperses to charities in need.
