No longer driven by a better title or salary, Tim Mullet found himself feeling less fulfilled with 14 years behind him in the wine and spirits industry. After a former colleague asked him what he would be doing if he weren’t marketing beverages, Mullet, without skipping a beat, answered, “Real estate.” He had found his motivation. Two days later, Mullet signed up for a course to earn his broker’s license. He wasn’t sure how he would use it — on the side or for personal investing — but he quickly realized it was the full-time career for him.
Now a real estate agent with Dream Town Realty, Mullet works with buyers, sellers, renters and investors in the city and suburbs. Most of his business comes from referrals from clients who rave about his ability to deliver desired results. “When you work with me, I am with you each step of the way,” he says. “I listen to your expectations, I communicate often and clearly, and I’m resourceful and creative. You may come as my client but will leave as a friend.”
In 2019, his third full year in real estate, Mullet was named a top producer by the Chicago Association of Realtors. He was also the featured On the Rise agent in the April issue of Chicago Real Producers magazine. Mullet brings to real estate good habits he honed while working in marketing, including the process-driven and organized way he manages his business. He also understands the importance of fully listening to clients in order to customize a plan of action that meets their needs and expectations. “I had a mentor use the expression, ‘We all have two ears and one mouth for a reason. Use them proportionately,’” he says. “That stuck with me.”
When he is not working, Mullet likes to bike, play tennis or volleyball, walk his dogs by the lakefront, and host friends for dinner and game-night parties.
