MRED Wells Broadbooks

Jon K. Broadbooks, Chief Communications Officer

Paul Wells, Chair, Board of Managers, Midwest Real Estate Data

Midwest Real Estate Data LLC takes pride in representing more than 45,000 real estate professionals in 16 REALTOR® associations throughout Illinois, providing a platform for more than $38 billion in transactions in 2019.

The multiple listing service is broker-owned, meaning that practitioners drive an organization that is nationally recognized for providing cutting-edge technology solutions for subscribers. Leading MRED’s board of managers this year is real estate veteran Paul Wells. The leader of RE/MAX of Barrington, he played an important role in launching Homesnap in his role as chair. “I am very proud to be part of the team that made Homesnap a national success,” Wells says. “It’s one of the best tools for agents and clients.”

Even after more than 30 years, Wells remembers his entry into the industry. He bought the home he was living in, sold it, backpacked around the world and, in the process, learned he loved the real estate business. “I am incredibly fortunate to be a Realtor, and to have formed meaningful friendships with clients, agents, vendors and the MRED team,” Wells says.

Jon K. Broadbooks joined MRED as chief communications officer in March, just as the state went under a stay-at-home order, and he worked to get subscribers the information and services they needed in a time of crisis. “I am proud that MRED was able to quickly respond and make meaningful changes to best serve our subscribers,” Broadbooks says.

Broadbooks’ two decades of journalism experience and more than eight years with a state Realtor association serve as guiding forces. “Representing the real estate community was a natural progression of my interest in business and communicating complex material to a broader audience,” he says.

Wells supports the Children’s Miracle Network, Habitat for Humanity, ChildFund International, Heifer International and other nonprofits. In his downtime, he enjoys fishing and golfing. Broadbooks is a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
