For over 19 years, mortgage originator Craig Achtzehn has been a trusted home financing resource for consumers and professionals across Chicagoland and beyond. Achtzehn is a vice president of residential lending at Draper and Kramer Mortgage’s downtown Chicago branch, and he is licensed to originate home loans in 15 states. Mortgage Executive Magazine has consistently included him on their annual Top 1% Mortgage Originators in America list.
One of the biggest values Achtzehn promises his clients and real estate partners is a consistent and reliable home financing process. “Everyone who’s worked with me knows and trusts that my team and I will do exactly what we say we will do,” he says. “Financing a home can be an emotional time, but we use our professionalism and experience to help make it a calm and stress-free experience.”
Achtzehn’s mortgage expertise includes a wide range of loan, property and client types. “I work with just about every kind of borrower, from young people buying their first homes to seasoned real estate investors financing multiple properties,” he says, “and I treat everyone the way I would want to be treated.” A West Point graduate and U.S. Army veteran, Achtzehn also specializes in helping military borrowers obtain VA home loans.
Achtzehn resides in suburban Chicago with his wife and two children. “Seeing both of my daughters grow into wonderful, strong young women makes me proud,” he says. In his free time, Achtzehn is also an ambassador to the Folded Flag Foundation, a nonprofit that provides educational scholarships and support grants to the spouses and children of service members who have fallen in the line of duty.
As he nears the milestone of two decades in the mortgage business, Achtzehn’s passion for his profession is as strong as ever. “Our job is helping people, and I love doing that,” he says.
