Denise Curry, Listing and Buyer’s Agent

Baird & Warner

All of the work experiences Denise Curry had leading up to her career as a listing and buyer’s agent with Baird & Warner coincidentally related to real estate.

As a salesperson for the commercial construction division of Honeywell, Curry participated in extensive sales training sessions, learned how to read blueprints and understand basic functions of electrical and HVAC systems, and mastered the art of negotiation. As a long-term substitute teacher, she learned the ins and outs of the local school district, which is key information when assisting buyers in her territory. Still, in both instances, she didn’t know real estate would be in her future.

Curry moved to the northwestern suburbs 35 years ago when her children were babies. She was catapulted into a career in real estate after her former agent, Sandy Heinlein, asked if she would be interested in joining her team. “Sandy was a wonderful mentor,” she says. “She shared all facets of her experience and knowledge with me.” Now Curry leads her own team and tries to do for them what Heinlein did for her.

“Many minds are better than one,” Curry says of her team. “Not only can I derive very creative ideas from my Curry Team members, but the homeowners also contribute to the process. When everyone buys into the concept of ‘We are all in it together,’ the journey is fun and personable.”

Curry’s clients range from first-time buyers to luxury clients who list and buy properties in Barrington, Inverness and Palatine. Although she is aware of the competition, her only true competitor is herself. “The goal for me is always to learn from my successes and failures and vow to do better,” she says. “If I keep my eyes on myself, improve and learn, then success follows.”

In her free time, Curry enjoys socializing with friends through their book club, traveling with family and friends, and spending time with her two granddaughters.
