Bob Carr, Senior Vice President of Residential Lending

Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp.

When he applied for his first mortgage 20 years ago, Bob Carr came away with not only a house but also a career. He was so captivated by the home financing process that he became a loan officer himself and turned his fascination into a passion for helping others. Today, Carr is a senior vice president of residential lending at Draper and Kramer Mortgage’s downtown Chicago branch and a member of the firm’s President’s Club for top-producing mortgage originators.

Carr specializes in assisting first-time homebuyers and borrowers moving from the city to the suburbs as well as those seeking second-home and investment property financing. “I treat every home purchase not as a transaction but as a chance to form a new relationship,” he says. “I cherish the opportunity to earn people’s trust and become a lifelong resource for them.” Accordingly, the majority of Carr’s clients are referred to him by past borrowers and his network of professional partners.

The personal approach Carr favors includes playing a hands-on role in each client’s loan. “I am involved in every aspect of the mortgage process, and I am always the point of contact for borrowers and their real estate teams,” he says. “When people know that their loan officer is personally handling their loan, providing consistent updates and always available to answer their questions, it inspires confidence.”

When he’s not helping clients, Carr can be found with his wife and two children. “I’m proud to be able to spend a lot of time watching my kids grow up and sharing in their activities,” he says. “Thanks to the flexibility of this business, I don’t have to choose between being there for my clients and being there for my family. I can do both, and I’m incredibly thankful for that.”
