Ranked among the Chicago Association of Realtors’ top 1 percent, Erika Villegas is consistently recognized as one of the nation’s best brokers and an asset to the city’s real estate industry. A broker associate with RE/MAX Mi Casa, Villegas brings 14 years of experience to serve a wide range of clients in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
“I work with first-time buyers extending into their 60s, retirees looking to leave the city for warmer weather, and families looking to buy a bigger home in the suburbs,” she explains, adding that she also receives referrals from a few local attorneys and assists a number of investors with rehabilitating properties. “I also work very closely with the Hispanic community, not only because I am Latina and fluent in Spanish, but because it’s important to me to create long-term wealth and sustainable homeownership opportunities for all my clients.”
Beginning her career in her early 20s by enrolling in a pre-licensing course to stay busy while raising her newborn son, Villegas quickly realized real estate was her calling. Since 2013, she has maintained her standing as one of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals’ Top 250, and in 2016, she received the President’s Award from both CAR and NAHREP. She also previously earned CAR’s Realtor Achievement Award.
Villegas regards every client as family and treats them how she would want to be treated. “I go above and beyond to make sure our clients see me as a resource, not only during the transaction but also for years to come,” she says.
With a total of 72 clients in 2018, Villegas surpassed her goal for the year, all while raising her 14-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter and introducing a more structured self-care regimen. She also has increased her involvement with CAR’s board of directors, runs a women’s group for 725 members, and serves on the board of Mind + Hand, a Chicago-based nonprofit dedicated to improving education options for youth on the Southwest Side.
Villegas is a passionate traveler and amateur chef. When not working or volunteering, she loves spending time outdoors with her husband and kids.
