Despite the loan process becoming increasingly complex, Sam Sharp is highly regarded for his constant ability to present a more personal experience to his clients.
“I listen, but with intent and direction,” says Sharp, EVP of national sales at Guaranteed Rate. “I look to educate my clients and help them understand the process and timelines. I want to meet their needs, but I also have to direct them so they can better understand what options are available.”
Recently promoted to his current position, Sharp is still originating loans and providing excellent service to his clients and partners. But now he plays a more direct role in the growth of Guaranteed Rate, which has given him renewed energy. “I am working with some of the greatest minds in the industry on improving and innovating the experience for clients, business partners and loan officers. I am honored and humbled to have my contributions valued.”
Sharp entered the mortgage industry 16 years ago after his music career hit a bum note. “I had broken my hand and had to sidetrack my former employment as a professional drummer,” he says. “A friend turned me onto the industry, and the rest is history.”
What sets him apart from other lenders is his focus on the advances that technology has created. “Rather than looking at these resources as replacement technology, I view them more as tools — ways that I can make myself more available for one-on-one interaction with my clients,” he says. “I use technology to facilitate a more organic experience.”
He is inspired to use his new platform to improve the industry for his colleagues and clients. “I am always looking to better the experience for everyone involved in all facets,” he says. “Seeing these ideas come to life and improving the process — that’s a huge accomplishment.”
