Long before college, Robert Curtis was preparing for his career with Wintrust as a senior loan originator. His first experience in customer service as a fine-dining waiter helped polish his ability to anticipate and meet clients’ needs before they even spoke about them.
“I have a consultative approach, where I am able to pull forward concerns or fears,” he says. “I assist clients in overcoming those throughout the process. The goal is consistently based in the total client experience from conversation to close.” His full range of knowledge allows him to delve into consultative conversations, to look at both short-term and long-term planning with all of his clients, from first-time buyers to investors. “This level of expertise has created the legacy of past clients and the ability to build a business founded in meeting the needs of others,” he says.
A president’s level producer with Wintrust, he proactively communicates with clients throughout the process, promptly returning calls and addressing their concerns.
“The goal is to determine what problems may surface before they do and take a proactive approach rather than a reactive one to assist them with a solution,” he says. “There are many solutions. The key is finding one that meets the client’s objectives.”
Exceptional service from application to closing allows him to establish a true partnership with homebuyers throughout what might otherwise be an anxiety-ridden process. In return, he says clients treat him with the same respect, appreciation and collaboration. “This kind of reciprocity is the key to building and maintaining client relationships, not just in the here and now but for a lifetime,” he says.
To Curtis, education has been key to helping others become more productive and live a better life than they may have imagined for themselves. He is a Qualified Loan Professional (QPL) and holds USA Cares certification. Clients are quick to point out his integrity, caring attitude, knowledge and service-oriented manner in reviews about their experiences working with him.
Curtis is grateful for the quality of life his career provides for his family and the time it allows him to be involved in his kids’ activities. Whether he’s assisting at events for local veterans or serving at a food kitchen, he also enjoys volunteering in the community.
