For different reasons all their own, each member of the team at loanDepot entered the world of real estate financing. Branch manager Joe Perry became hooked on the ability to utilize his degree in finance and his passion for helping people in a career. Fellow branch manager Brian Buchanan was dedicated to supporting those wanting to achieve their homeownership goals. 

Mary Bane, ranked among the 2017 Elite Women by Mortgage Professional America, was lured by the flexible schedule and income potential. “I quickly discovered that to be successful, you had to work twice as hard,” says Bane, vice president regional production. Jose Valdovinos, regional renovation sales manager, grew up in a diverse neighborhood and enjoys working with clients from different backgrounds.

Part of the team has been together for 20 years, witnessing the industry perform in various economic cycles. “We have a lot of trust in each other,” Perry says.

loanDepot assists first-time and move-up buyers, as well as investors.  “First-time homebuyers are our favorite, because it is rewarding to experience someone buying their first home,” Buchanan says. loanDepot does not have the overlays that would limit a client from purchasing a home. Thus, the team is experienced at turning around the situation for clients whose loans were denied by other lenders. Perry says his team is skilled at figuring out how to get clients into a home despite problems they faced in the past, such as difficulties with credit and making down payments.

Regardless of the situation, they always educate clients on the lending process and explain the reasons behind each document. Fluent in Spanish and English, Valdovinos consults with clients individually, exploring different avenues to mend their credit or put them on a path to fix it. He also introduces them to down payment assistance programs, making sure he is well versed on the guidelines. “Some families experienced hardships in the past,” he says. “Being able to walk them through to the finish line of owning again is extremely rewarding.”

Seeing the success of the sales staff as they help clients into homes is Perry’s favorite part of the job. To give back, the team educates youth on financial responsibility and volunteers their time to worthy causes.
