Managing Broker of the Year, City: Barbara O’Connor

by Chicago Agent

barbaraoconnorBarbara O’Connor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of real estate. She consistently was one of the city of Chicago’s top producing agents and always No. 1 at the real estate offices she has worked for. After being in the business for approximately 22 years, O’Connor transitioned to the managing broker role, and became president of brokerage services at Dream Town Realty three-and-a-half years ago. She has taken her office to approximately 100 Realtors since then.

The reason for transitioning to managing was due to the market shift. O’Connor saw a lack of understanding from managing brokers in what agents were going through, and wanted to be there to help in trying times and to mentor using the skills she had acquired over her history in the industry.

Being a top producer and a managing broker pale in comparison to her No. 1 priority – her husband, five children and four grandchildren. The multi-tasking that takes place as a parent has helped with honing in her skills with different personality types and difficult situations in real estate. O’Connor is a lifelong Chicagoan. She has her MBA from Loyola University, and as a real estate leader, she is often quoted in publications, TV and radio.

“This is the highest compliment one can get, as it comes from our peers. We are only as good as the people we work with.”
