Let Me Tell You a Story

by Chicago Agent

By Agent X
Have I got some great stories for you! Would you like me to tell you about the home I sold that once served as a speakeasy in the 1920s? Or I could tell you about the one that belonged to Michael Jordan’s distant cousin, or the lovely ranch that Oprah’s third cousin used to own.

My favorite story would have to be the house in Sandwich that used to be a brothel. You might think that house would’ve been on the market for three years, but I sold it in three days. The buyer was well aware of the house’s history, and a few beers after the showing he sprinted off and convinced his wife that they were about to own a slice of Sandwich history. You just have to know your audience.

If anyone can tell me when Scott Maesel decided to switch from Sussex and Reilly commercial to Sperry Van Ness, please let me know. Agent X must be out of the loop. I’ll find out the details on Sept. 18 when they host their Sangamon office grand opening. Also moving and shaking was Judy Tinsley, who joined the Naperville office of Weichert, Realtors – Kingsland Properties. Joe Aguilera, formerly the director of marketing at the Four Seasons Chicago is now the vice president of sales for Elysian Hotel & Resorts. Michael Tobin, who used to spend his days as a partner at Northern Realty Group, is now senior vice president of the development group at U.S. Equities Realty. Brian Lindstrom, a former president at Chicago United Mortgage Inc., also couldn’t stay put and is now vice president of mortgage lending for Guaranteed Rate Inc.

Chuck Goro was his usual cool-as-a-cucumber self when 40 of his agents left Koenig and Strey for Jameson this past week. With talks going on since March, Mike Sato and Chris Feurer officially became CEO and president of Jameson Realty Group. Charlie and Harry Huzenis will still play a part as directors at the firm. Find out more about Chris and Mike in our Sept. 22 issue of Chicago Agent’s Who’s Who issue!

In other gossipy goodness, former Realtor Kevin Curtis, along with others, has started RKD Homes and is planning an 800-home lakefront property about an hour southwest of the loop. They hope to break ground April of next year.

Alex Pearsall of Sutherland Pearsall is in need of an anchor tenant so he can launch the redevelopment of the former Hanna Cylinder Co. factory on Elston. Home with a history alert!

Agent X was missing power for three days after that big scary storm that hit the city, which just gave me more time to party. On July 31, Tony Disano and Mike Cuevas hosted quite the bash at Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort, announcing the joint venture between ParkVue Realty Corporation and Aspire Properties. With the complimentary drinks extended an additional hour, the place was packed with over 200 people dancing the hula.

Belgravia Group topped off 565 Quincy with a party for buyers and guests with some very popular sangria wine. Giving tours of the model home was Carmen Krushas, Belgravia’s marketing director, and the ever-so-energetic Erin Mandel gave away a Wii to one lucky person. Missing from the action was Cory Robertson, who was away in New York for a personal trip with the boys.

Birthdays! John Disera ate some cake on Aug. 3, while Deborah Greenberg waited until Aug. 4 and Ken Pytlewski and Candice Burns-Potenzas blew out candles on Aug.5. Paul Vranas was the birthday boy on Aug. 6 and Matthew Smith celebrated on Aug. 8. Let’s hope Charles Barenbrugge got his birthday wish granted on Aug. 9.
