Getting Back on Top

According to our Real Data stats from 2013, the top 20 agents in Chicagoland earned a combined total volume of $1.938 billion, up from $1.202 billion in 2012, an increase of 61 percent. While the improved market has much to do with the increased income, the skills and attitude of the top 20 Chicagoland agents are also major determinants of their success.

The top 20 agents in all six counties haven’t varied much, from pre-recession through to now. In our cover story, Jennifer Mills with Koenig & Strey Real Living, Lorrie Groth with Century 21 in Hampshire and Jane Lee with RE/MAX Top Performers (who all appear on our cover) all shared their strategies that have kept them at top producer status for year after year – even difficult ones.

They also shared their viewpoints on the industry and advice for how other agents can be top producers one day. Some of the things they shared seemed elementary – always being available to clients, being knowledgeable about neighborhoods as well as the current market – but in reality, if every agent were doing those things, we might have more agents with similar earnings. How can you land among the top 100 or 50 agents? Set your goals for this year with their advice in mind; click through to our cover story and read what all three top producers had to say.

A big congratulations to all of Chicagoland’s top producers, especially the top 20 in each county (listed on page 26 and 28) – keep up the hard work!
