Keeping the pressure low and the energy high, Brian Behan takes an analytics-centered approach to real estate, relying on both the data and his professional experience to guide the process. “I love talking pricing strategy with sellers, identifying value with buyers and working with investors who are chasing a high return on investment,” says Behan, a broker with @properties specializing in single-family homes, condos, and multi-unit and investment properties within Oak Park, River Forest and Chicago.
Born and raised in the Oak Park/River Forest area, Behan moved to the city in his early 20s then returned to his original stomping grounds to raise a family. He has an intimate knowledge of Chicago from Lincoln Park down to West Town. “I know these streets authentically,” he says.
Prior to joining the real estate industry, Behan studied architecture and design in college and then worked at the Chicago Board of Trade for 18 years, first clerking for a soybean options broker before transitioning to a boutique proprietary firm. “I purchased my first property in 2005 and loved the process of seeing inventory, comparing finishes, exploring neighborhoods and identifying value,” he says.
Beginning every transaction with a conversation about his client’s desires, goals and timeline, Behan is attentive to their needs and available to answer questions at any time. “They know I’m not in it for a quick sale, only to disappear after,” he says.
Behan is a member of the Chicago Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. He recently completed Michael LaFido’s Luxury Listing Specialist designation as well as a Ninja Selling course through @properties in 2018. He volunteers with the Lincoln Elementary PTO in River Forest and supports local charities Hephzibah Children’s Association, Sarah’s Inn and Opportunity Knocks.
As a lover of the outdoors and the father of two adventurous daughters, Behan, along with his wife, enjoys taking road trips to the Rocky Mountains, hiking, skiing and camping. He also loves to lift weights, practice yoga, play tennis and cook.
