MRED data from the first quarter of 2024 reveals a detailed look at the upper echelon of home sales across Chicagoland.

In Cook County, the average sale price of the 20 most expensive properties sold in the first quarter was $4.1 million. Eleven of those sales were in Chicago; four in Winnetka; three in Glencoe; and one each in Wilmette and Kenilworth.

The next highest average price among the top 20 home sales was in DuPage County, at $2.775 million. Eight of those sales were in Hinsdale; five in Naperville; four in Oak Brook; and one each in Burr Ridge, Clarendon Hills and Downers Grove.

Lake County’s average price among the top 20 single-family home sales was $2.6 million. Seven of those were in Lake Forest; six in Highland Park; four in Lake Bluff; and one each in Barrington Hills, Lincolnshire and Riverwoods.

Will County’s average was $1.32 million. Of the top 20 home sales, 13 were in Naperville; two in Mokena and one each in Homer Glen, Frankfort, New Lenox, Plainfield and Wilmington.

In Kane County, the average of the top 20 sales was $1.14 million. Fourteen of those were in St. Charles; two in Elgin; and one each in Batavia, Campton Hills, Geneva and North Aurora.

The McHenry County average was $804,000. Four of those sales were in Barrington Hills; three each in Crystal Lake, McHenry and Woodstock; two in Lakewood; and one each in Algonquin, Fox River Grove; Johnsburg; Marengo and Prairie Grove.

All told, 37 suburbs, in addition to the city, are represented in the MRED data, proving that luxury can be found just about anywhere.
