Proper Title makes new hires in Chicagoland and northwest Indiana

by Emily Mack

Proper Title opened its first offices outside of Illinois this year, in Schererville and Valparaiso, and the news of three new hires represents regional expansion.

The company announced that Julie Cwik, Jan O’Hara and Kristi Greer will all be joining the firm as senior underwriting counsel, escrow manager and processor, respectively. Cwik will operate out of Chicagoland while O’hara and Greer are based in northwest Indiana.

As the new senior underwriting counsel, Cwik is taking over for Charity Murow, who was promoted to senior underwriting manager and counsel. Prior to her position at Proper Title, Cwik was a partner at the Glen Ellyn law firm Morreale Brady Malone & Cwik, P.C. where she first joined as an associate attorney in 2005.

“Julie has spent the last 17 years of her impressive career as a practicing attorney with a law firm focused on residential real estate, which makes her an amazing addition to our Chicagoland team,” Proper Title Chief Operating Officer Kathy Kwak said in a press release. “She has been on all sides of residential real estate transactions professionally and, in fact, she was also a client of Proper Title before joining our firm.”

In addition to Cwik, O’Hara and Greer are also joining the Proper Title team in the neighboring state of Indiana.

As escrow manager, O’Hara will be the lead closer for the Valparaiso office while serving as closing manager for the whole Northwest Indiana team. She joins Proper Title with more than 40 years of industry experience, having previously held positions at Meridian Title Corporation and Fidelity National Title Insurance Company. She is also a licensed real estate broker in both Illinois and Indiana.

Greer is also joining the Northwest Indiana team, as a processor. In that role, she will utilize her communication and organizational skills gained from experience as a customer service coordinator/processor for Greater Indiana Title Company. She’s also held administrative roles and worked in property management for Chicago-area apartments.

“Having just expanded into Northwest Indiana earlier this year, we’re so pleased to continue tapping into that region’s talent pool with terrific hires like Jan and Kristi,” said Brent Fielder, executive vice president of business development. “They both offer not only the professional skill set, but also a level of experience, that make them a great fit for the Proper Title team.”

Brent added: “And as we continue our growth trajectory as a company, these new hires will only add to the solid foundation we are building on as we expand and open new offices.”
