Where did you grow up? Chicagoland!
What was your most interesting job before going into lending? Fortunately, my dad taught me the value of hard work and building wealth when I was younger. I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset and was self-employed at 16 years old doing nails! I did that for 10 years so my parents wouldn’t have to pay for me. I’ve been able to harness that same mindset and go-getter energy to start and grow A and N.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I don’t hold on to negativity. I let it roll right off, so I like to take a bath and let the stress melt away.
If you could meet any well-known figure, who would it be? Doug who started Calyx Point. I’d thank him for the work he does to improve the software for all of his clients. His dedication is really impressive.
What do you love most about the industry? To put it simply, helping people with next chapter of their lives.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Your mindset helps you with anything you face in a day. I am always a positive person. I truly love what I do, so it doesn’t feel difficult.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? I absolutely love Spotify and can’t function without music. I always have music playing. It even comes out of my fridge!
What’s your favorite meal in Chicago? One of my favorites is Ahi Tuna from Mable’s Table.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? Well, I don’t know about weirdest, but some of the coolest experiences are some of the clients I have had the privilege of working with. We’ve worked with some incredible front line heroes, first responders and teachers. We’ve even had actors and producers from some popular series like “Sex and City” and “Chicago Fire” all the way to some amazing talent from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Chicago Opera. You just never know who you are going to get to work with and help with that important chapter. I enjoy learning about our clients and getting to be a part of their journey.
What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? That I am half Indian, a quarter Swedish and I just found out, I am a quarter Irish! I enjoy learning all about new heritage.
What’s your favorite vacation spot and why? New Buffalo, MI because it is easy to get to from Chicago, and we’re actually planning a new A and N location there in the future!
In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the lending industry? Be kind, be patient. Instead of thinking “Have to do something” think “It is a privilege”.
