The royal ‘G’

by Agent X

Agent X is all about getting people talking, so I’m excited that CA is tackling this hot-button issue! Some people think of gentrification as a dirty word, but let’s be real. We don’t have to be the enemy of the people just because it’s getting more and more expensive to buy a home in the city. Au contraire, mon frère, agents are simply here to help. And we are also here for the commission and the networking cocktails. But that’s just between you, me and everyone else reading this. So, let’s get to the gossip!

Sabrina Bier, the training and development manager at Proper Title, LLC, created a Virtual Real Estate Chat Facebook page where she posts video interviews with some of the area’s biggest industry pros. My personal fave was her interview with Lisa Foster from @properties where Foster revealed that her niece thinks her social media game is “trash.” Wow. Now some people would just say that all social media can be filed under the T word, but during these challenging times, it’s my favorite kind of garbage.

Did you guys see Rahm Emanuel and Chris Christie offering up predictions to Realtors during the annual NAR Federal Legislative & Political Forum (via the Internets, of course)? Well the real news out of that event was that Emanuel finally admitted that he’s the one who sent that Cubbies win jacket to the mayor of Paris that she was wearing in that video the circled the socials recently.

Tommy Choi is all about supporting local businesses right now, or he just really likes delis. On Saturday, May 17 he set up an “order from Manny’s Deli and pick up in my office parking lot” session. Is it too late for me to put in a request for a pastrami on rye?

These online events are getting more and more interesting, especially since the only bartender present is me, and I would never cut anyone off. On the evening of May 19, I popped on to Instagram live (yes, I know how to do that and yes, I had to phone my assistant four times before I got it to work) to take a continuing education class with Carrie Jo Little. I learned a lot and I drank a lot: a winning combo. If you missed that session and really want to hang out with Carrie, every Friday at 9 a.m. she hosts Live Coffee with Carrie where you can pick her brain.

Last round of spring birthdays, and then you know what that means: Summer! Not that I’m glossing over the folks with late spring birthdays — you’re special to me, too. Happiest of birthdays to Karen Ranquist on May 28, and then we hop on over to June, so basically the year is already half over. Thad Wong and Michael Pierson can share cake on June 5, as long as they eat it 6 feet away from one another. Amanda McMillan Dollinger gets a shout from me on June 6 for her birthday, while Rebecca Thomson may hear me yelling into the sky on June 7 in honor of her big day. Then one last scream before my lungs give out, because I can’t forget about Natasha Motev on June 8. Don’t forget to stay safe and healthy, my friends and, of course, wash your hands.
