20/20 vision for 2020

by Agent X

You guys, we are just days away from popping bottles of champagne to ring in the new year and usher in a new decade! That means it’s time for the experts to sit together and make some guesses about what’s going to happen next year. What we do know is that there will be a presidential election, property taxes will probably go up and someone famous will die. In a minute, you can scoot on over to the cover story to find out what other sorts of things may happen next year, but for now, stay here for the gossip.

Anthony Marinaccio has been touring Scottsdale and sharing all the deets with his Instagram followers. The SVP of mortgage lending at GRate has been doing some shopping, eating at local delis, and taking in some hip AZ restaurants. Sounds like fun, but can you really get into the holiday spirit when the temps are hanging out in the mid-60s? While that sounds pleasant to us, I guess it’s technically a cold front for them.

On the Twitters, Nick Libert likened buying a condo to making lasagna: lots of layers and it could be good or bad depending on what’s inside. So, he decided to develop a list of what to look for, which he posted alongside a picture of himself holding a pan of Garfield’s favorite food. The question is, did he actually make the lasagna, or did someone do it for him? Inquiring minds want to know.
Tommy Choi is a Phish head? I’ve known the guy for decades and never had a clue. According to Instagram, he headed all the way to North Charleston because he never misses a Sunday show. I wonder how many others from the Chicagoland real estate community were in attendance, and how many of those people actually remember being there.

The year is coming to a close, so it’s time to squish in a few more events before the new year. One biggie happened on Dec. 10, with CAR’s one-day conference, Titans of the Industry: Women Leading the Charge. It was nice to see some of the smartest ladies I know sharing the stage and expert tips at Amazing Space@625 in Greektown. Maybe next time they’ll make some space for me up there.

Oakbrook Terrace just landed another RE/MAX office, and on Dec. 12, RE/MAX Legends hosted the grand opening celebration. The sleek new office stands out from the crowd with a black exterior and lots of tinted windows. As all my celebrity clients know, the best way to become legendary is to make sure you’re slightly hard to see behind a sweet set of designer shades. Love it!

Let’s jingle some bells for these holiday birthdays: Leo “Latkes” Aubel celebrates on Dec. 23, while Denise “Deck-the-Halls” Salazar-Carosella shares a birthday with Jesus himself on Dec. 25. Jeff “Jolly” Metz celebrates on Dec. 27. JoAnn “Snowflake” Sworan and Jennifer “Elves” Evans share a Dec. 29 birthday, while Mimi “Mistletoe” Luna always gets the day off on her big day: Jan. 1. Rachael “Reindeer” Rohn and Leslie “Stocking Stuffer” Struthers share a Jan. 2 bday, while Ted “Tinsel” Guarnero celebrates on Jan. 3. Finally, Kelly “Prancer” Price will celebrate on Jan. 5. Happy holidays everyone!
