And the award goes to…

It’s barely October, and awards season has begun. It’s the Agents’ Choice Awards that get us started down this road, and I didn’t hear anyone thank me, which seems like a big miss. I’ll forgive you, partly because I didn’t vote for half of you. That’s right, Best Dressed winner, I like someone else’s style more.

First, let me give you the scoop on the Agents’ Choice party. The who’s who of the industry gathered at the luxurious Landmark West Loop on Oct. 17 to see who got to take home one of the fancy, sparkling trophies. From the delicious spread of food to the super-cool DJ, this party was the place to be. Congrats to all the winners, and better luck next year to everyone else.

Now: the gossip. It seems like everyone in the industry is having babies. Mike Opyd of RE/MAX Next likes babies so much that he’s going to have two of them. He and his wife are expecting identical twin boys.

Speaking of babies, Rebecca Thomson and Matt Farrell just had a baby, and somehow Rebecca managed to squeeze into real clothes and look amazing at the CAR Inaugural Gala one week later.

Rick Sobin of @properties got his Duke Silver on and was spotted jamming with his band recently. Maybe he doesn’t actually play the saxophone, but if you get that reference, then you and I could be friends IRL.

Jenny Ames is now a regular on WLS-AM radio every Thursday at 11:05 a.m. doing a real estate segment on the Bob Sirott show. Tune in!

Events! I’ve already mentioned two of the biggies, but let’s get back to that CAR Gala, held on Oct. 9 at the Radisson Blu Aqua. The food was plentiful and the drinks were flowing, and everyone piled into the photo booth, despite being told numerous times they wouldn’t all fit in the picture.

October 12 was a big day for real estate. Coldwell Banker Lincoln Park held its grand opening party at their office located at 1910 N. Clybourn Ave. Then, Real Estate to the Rescue (formerly known as Realtors to the Rescue) held a launch party at the Merchandise Mart. This is the group that does nice things for our furry friends, though I found out the hard way that they weren’t actually invited. I then high-tailed it to the Naperville Marriott for the Illinois Realtor Gala.

On Oct. 19, I saw what Dream Town’s Colin Hebson has been up to and made an appearance at the Ronsley Model opening at 676 Kingsbury St. in River North. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from the East Bank Club, where I did some great work on my tan this summer.

It’s fall. You’ll notice the leaves starting to change color, the days getting shorter, and the ladies wearing yoga pants and boots. Plus, everything is pumpkin flavored. Matt Garrison and Emily Sachs Wong share a b-day on Oct. 23. Two issues in a row I get to name check a Thanasouras, since Michael’s b-day is Oct. 24, along with Amy Duong Kim and Jon Goldman. Stephanie Neuman Lavelle and Cathy Stabb share an Oct. 28 b-day, while Steven Maher and Monique Pieron-Strong narrowly missed a Halloween b-day on Oct. 30.
