Agent X: Feeling hot, hot, hot

With the temperatures skyrocketing and the humidity doing a real number on my hair, all Chicago neighborhoods are actually pretty hot right now. Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here every issue. In all seriousness, it’s amazing to me how neighborhoods can change on a dime. In the 80s, back when I had a Flock of Seagulls-inspired hairdo, no one wanted to go near Roscoe Village, let alone live there. Now there are brand-new, million-dollar houses sprouting up like weeds on every corner. And don’t even get me started on what that area around the New City monolith was like. I will admit some of the neighborhoods that are hot right now I’m still scared to enter, but that’s for different reasons. Humboldt Park has some great stuff going on these days, but honestly I don’t know how to communicate with hipsters. Let’s move on to something else that’s pretty hot: gossip.

Lots of news about little ones in this issue, which is fine, but that’s not exactly the juicy gossip I like to discuss. Don’t forget to send me emails with all the juicy items about adults in the business so I can report it with a little more…pizzazz. First off, Robbine Kim had a baby girl! Good for her. Enjoy the sleepless nights and the baby barf, Robbine!

While we’re talking about offspring, Stephanie Andre’s adorable daughter was in a national TV commercial for a food/meal delivery website. Not a bad way to make some dough on the side. Perhaps the next wave of home staging will be to pepper in some adorable little ones throughout a fancy home. Steph, why don’t you give it a try and report back?

An Adam McLain selfie expressed his “deep sadness” while dropping off his kids at camp. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone look more excited in an Instagram post.

I had no idea Judy Gibbons was such a big Ed Sheeran fan, but she must be to bid on such a ginormous painting of him. Maybe she didn’t expect to win, but she sure did, which means she gets to see the adorable ginger’s face every day.

Parties are my favorite, especially the ones where there are no kids around. On July 17, WCR hosted a trivia night. I didn’t participate in the trivia, because it would’ve just been unfair. I’m a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about every topic, obviously.

On July 19, CA held their big annual Who’s Who party to celebrate the big fat issue of the mag. I went, I saw, I drank way too much and I may or may not have been asked to go home. I say that because I honestly can’t remember. But that means I had a pretty good time.

After a quick trip for an IV in River North, I was able to head back out to participate in the Draper & Kramer day at the races on July 21. Then after another trip for an IV at a different location because I was too embarrassed to return, I was able to hit the town again on the 22nd.

More summer birthdays to raise a glass to. Michael Shenfeld and Benjie Burford are usually pretty warm on their August 1 birthday, along with Janet Owens and birthday twin Jeff Bushaw on August 3. Kevin Grady should bet on evens at the roulette wheel with his 8/4 birthday, and Nick Apostal could follow suit on 8/6. Akos Straub and Maria Munoz must consider the #8 pretty lucky with an 8-8 birthday, and next year their big day will be comprised of three of them.
