Stats, and numbers, and data, oh my!

Everyone loves gossip, but it’s hard to beat cold, hard facts. And CA has delivered an issue that puts the facts of the market front and center.

Speaking of historic moments, the groundhog saw his shadow, so logically that means we’re in for six more weeks of winter. I’ll be spending most of it on my sunny tropical island, and I know that Sean Conlon has the same idea. My tracker has him pinpointed in Malibu, and I hear Melissa Cohn’s been in Hawaii for a honeymoon recently. Great minds!

This week’s big news, of course, is the Super Bowl! The Pats win again. More importantly, I caught every commercial – I laughed, I cried, and now I can’t stop dreaming about my own fleet of drones in formation. Agent X, coming to a sky near you.

Also big news: Mack Alsaidi has made a move to Coldwell Banker, and now calls the Gold Coast office home. Never a dull moment.

Matt Laricy couldn’t wait for Real Data to come out – He went ahead and shared a pic of his total volume across his first four years as an agent, around $2.5 million. Quite a difference from the $125 million he raked in this year! He accompanied his stats with a note of encouragement for agents starting out. Keep at it, and one day you too may appear in the Real Data issue.

Steph LoVerde had a stroke of good luck recently when she found a St. Joseph statue buried in a pile of leaves. Apparently a St. Joseph on the premises improves the likelihood of a sale. The same thing happens when I’m on the premises, but I can’t be everywhere at once!

Parties are starting to heat up as folks come out of hibernation. On Jan. 25, HBAGC held a “Meet the Commissioner” event where Commissioner Frydland spoke at Wells Fargo about her plans for the Department of Building in 2017. We started off with a 30-minute networking session, and then some short remarks. Then the floor opened for questions about the Chicago Building Code.

On Feb. 9, AREAA’s Greater Chicago Chapter had its inaugural ceremony and gala. Kind of a big deal. As usual, there was an awards ceremony recognizing the best of the best – the top three teams, producers and mortgage professionals – and a raffle to benefit the AREAA Education Foundation. And of course, plenty of drinks and a rockin’ live DJ.

Last, but not least, it’s time for birthday shout-outs. Merry Jewel felt the love on her Feb. 14 birthday, while Alice Chin celebrated with Debra Kaden on Feb. 18. Ginger Downs will party on Feb. 21, while Graham Allen will celebrate on Feb. 23 along with David Kasprisin and Jill Hare. Donna Crane will sip champagne on Feb. 24, Bill Diehl will have prosecco on Feb. 25, and Kelly Demers will stick to a nice Pinot Grigio on Feb. 26.
