The laws that dictate how real estate transactions are carried out, who takes part, and how they represent themselves and their clients can seem ridiculously broad or laughably specific. Agents are subject to business regulations that address access and discrimination, data protection laws, state regulations and professional ethics guidelines. They must do their part to protect consumers and their data. And they must protect themselves.
Regulations change over time. Contract laws are rewritten. And new consumer protections evolve. As those changes occur, real estate agents must be able to rely on the expertise of trusted legal professionals, which is why a relationship with a knowledgeable real estate attorney is invaluable for agents.
You make mention that it is the Mainstreet 6.1 contract and it is, in fact, the Multiboard 6.1 Contract. It was a collaborative effort of all of the associations in the Chicagoland area who are members of MRED – including Chicago Association and it is approved for use by all the associations.
