by Peter Thomas Ricci

What Chicagoland neighborhoods saw the most home sales in August?

Home sales in the city of Chicago may have been up 6.3 percent in August, according to statistics from the Illinois Association of Realtors, but as with every month, those sales were spread out across many different neighborhoods.

Courtesy of new, exclusive numbers from Redfin, we put together a series of graphs examining that very question:

Unsurprisingly, the Near North Side saw the most sales activity in the city, but home sales were down 24.2 percent in the neighborhood from July to August.

In fact, sales were down across the board in Chicago’s most active neighborhoods, falling 30.5 percent in the West Loop, 31.2 percent in Lakeview and 28 percent in the Near South Side. In the single-family market, sales were down 22.8 percent in Norwood Park, and also declined in Ashburn (22.6 percent), Portage Park (8.7 percent), Irving Park (24.3 percent) and Garfield Ridge (32.5 percent).
