Nicole Van Haverbeke is a broker associate with Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty in Lincoln Park/Old Town

Number of years in real estate: One.

Describe your look: Structured and feminine, with dresses and skirts. You will rarely see me in pants.

What do you consider a “fashion don’t”? Sloppy, baggy or wrinkled clothing – especially in business or formal attire!

What is your favorite piece of clothing and why? I love sheath dresses. They are the perfect palette to layer jackets, sweaters and great accessories!

What do you consider a must-have accessory? Anything I pick-up while traveling. I love bringing home a special item from each vacation, like a scarf from Paris or a unique belt from Croatia. They become wearable memoirs and add a special element to any outfit.

What is a fashion crime you have committed in the past? Being too conservative and getting stuck in a fashion rut and not experimenting! Having go-to pieces is all well and good, but fashion is a great way to be creative and express who you are.

Where are your favorite places to shop? David Yurman for jewelry; BCBG Max Azria and Bloomingdale’s for dresses (I especially love the BCBG outlet for end of the year deals on formal dresses); Nordstrom for shoes; and Sara Jane for fun clothes and accessories.

What, besides your wardrobe, completes your look? An extra five minutes in the morning!  Whenever I’m feeling rushed, or too tired or stressed to make the extra effort, I pause and think, “What can I do that will make me feel better about my look?” Even if it’s adding a skinny belt or putting on an extra swipe of lip color, if I do not take that extra step, I won’t feel comfortable or confident for the day, and that goes a long way.
