This Week in Real Estate: Lakeview Sales, Census Bureau Findings and ZIPping Through Chi-Town

by Chicago Agent

Home sales in Lakeview were just one of the notable stories this week.

A quick rundown of stats from our real estate news from the week of Oct. 10 – Oct. 14, by the numbers:

35.7 – the percentage that third quarter home sales increased in Lakeview from 2010. Rosie O’Donnell is not the only good thing to happen to that area!

65.1 – the percentage of Americans who own homes, according to the Census Bureau, which is a 1.1 percent decline from 2000.

4.12 – the current rate for 30-year FRMs. After falling steadily the last two months (and even breaking 4 percent), the rate increased on positive employment news.

60614 – the ZIP code for the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago, which experienced the smallest drop in home prices among the city’s many ZIP codes.

51.4 – the number of Americans, by the millions, who are now living in multigenerational houses, an emerging trend of which agents should take note.
