Keeping it Old School

by Chicago Agent

By Agent X

I’m technically not a Boomer, but I like to consider myself an active adult. The powers that be might not let me into a 55-plus community, but if they feel like admitting younger applicants I would be there in a second. Nothing could be finer than having all those amenities just around the corner from my tricked-out ranch home with all of the fixings. I’m also looking forward to organizing the single events for my community. On to the gossip!

Chieftain Group, developer of Lexington Park, has decided to scrap plans for its 25-story, $150-million mixed-use project at Harrison and Wells, an area known as Franklin Point. This parcel is nothing but bad luck as others have tried to build something on this spot before, not enough Benjamin Franklins to go around?

The Gerald Fogelson Forum hosted their “State Street: That Great Street Once Again” event at Roosevelt University with speakers Larry Freed, Lee Golub and Charles Nash. Larry and Lee stole the show with their friendly bantering about Block 37 and stories from high school.

Moving and shaking is always going on no matter what that silly economy is up to. Garrison Partners nabbed Regina Castle from Kirk Homes and Dave Hojnacki from Centex Homes. Castle is going to be in charge of Lexington Square in Bridgeport while Hojnacki will throw his hat into The Point on the River in Milwaukee. Looks like Garrison is hiring– send your resumes ASAP.

In other Garrison news, Coldwell Banker’s Matt Garrison Group recently moved out of the RDM office and into their own pad at 1859 N. Elston.

Partying is also another thing that will never die down and Chicago Agent knows how to throw a hot one. Despite the rain and the confusing Google maps directions, tons of Realtors found their way to the Intercontinental O’Hare hotel in Rosemont. The National City after party was a blast as always and our own Kevin Nelson received a personal serenade from a well-known Realtor.

Coldwell Banker hosted their annual city awards at the Carlton Club where they recognized the top five agents from the resale side and the development side. A few agents were spotted dancing “The Carlton” in honor of the location.

Mark your calendars for April 23 to get in on two seminars. First, Koenig & Strey will host a homebuyer seminar at the Deerfield office to educate residents on the area’s current real estate climate – cloudy with a touch of rain. Also, a seminar entitled Navigating the Chicago Real Estate Market in 2009 will take place at The Grotto in Oak Brook where Chicagoland real estate experts will cover marketing techniques, research strategies, etc. I’ve been to The Grotto before, but it wasn’t the one in Oak Brook if you catch my drift.

Anne Ewasko and Dennis Dooley shared a birthday on April 8 while Amanda Kesel Winters will celebrate on April 15.
