With over 23 years of experience as a real estate investor and seven years of experience as a Realtor, Shanara Carter has a unique edge in the industry. “I understand real estate from the perspectives of the buyer, seller and investor,” she explains. “This allows me to strategize effectively and guide my clients through every step of the process with confidence.” Having worked as a nurse for 20 years, she leads with compassion and attention to detail and is a strong advocate for her clients.
The team lead of the At Home With Shanara Team at eXp Realty, Carter serves the South and West sides of Chicago, including the suburban areas of Cook County. “Leading a team is crucial to my growth as both a professional and an individual, broadening my network and strengthening client relationships,” the Chicago native shares. “Developing future leaders within my team is vital for the long-term success of my business.”
A recent recipient of the 40 under 40 award from the Black Women Professionals League, Carter was named in the Chicago Metropolitan Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women in 2019. She was recognized as HomePath’s top agent in 2021 and 2022 and received the Krista Mashore Coaching honor in 2023. The Chicago Association of Realtors recognized the At Home With Shanara Team as a top producer in 2023 and 2024. Carter is a featured author in Krista Mashore’s book “Top Producer Secrets: Digital Strategies to Stand Out and Take Over Market Share” and hosts “The Real Estate Podcast with Dionna and Shanara.”
Carter is delighted to watch her 17-year-old daughter begin her journey in real estate. “Knowing we’ll be helping families together is inspiring and deeply fulfilling,” she reports. “It’s about building a family business rooted in service, trust and impact.”
