Lane Chesebro, Real Estate Broker

Coldwell Banker

Anyone who has worked in the nonprofit sector knows how demanding it can be. Nonprofit work typically requires grueling hours, tight budgets and a lean staff, with each member possessing a diverse skill set that allows them to manage a multitude of tasks in support of the cause. Lane Chesebro’s experience in nonprofit leadership roles was the ideal preparation for his real estate career. His love for the city of Chicago and its people made real estate a perfect fit.

As the former executive director of the Chicago Center for Urban Life and Culture, Chesebro, who grew up in Hyde Park and currently lives in Bronzeville, gained a deep knowledge of and affection for Chicago’s many neighborhoods. After buying his first home in 2014, he earned his real estate license in 2016 in hopes of helping others achieve the same goal. “I learned the value of owning real estate and wanted to help others achieve homeownership by simplifying the process,” he said. “I love people first and foremost, and the city of Chicago, so blending the two has come naturally for me.” In 2020, he became a full-time agent.

Now with eight years in the business, Chesebro enjoys the unique set of challenges each real estate deal brings. His clients describe him as honest and direct, and they appreciate his sound advice based on experience, as well as his commitment to supporting their goals. He leverages his knowledge of the city’s communities to help everyone from first-time buyers and downsizers to luxury clients find just the right fit, advising as they navigate their real estate journey. “I hope that each client I serve feels like my counsel and advice was a valuable part of their process,” he shares.

Chesebro remains close to his nonprofit roots, but today he serves in an advisory role. The member of Lambda Alpha International, a global land economics society focused on land use and development, can often be found exploring Chicago’s coffee, food and beer scene while rooting for the White Sox, Bears and Bulls.
