Katie Barreto, Broker

COMPASS

After a decade in real estate, seven straight years in Chicago Agent magazine’s Who’s Who, millions in transactions and hundreds of happy clients, Katie Barreto is excited to do it all again and continue expanding her impact throughout her community.

Barreto serves Chicago and its suburbs with COMPASS and is looking to expand her team and reach. “Recently, a client asked if I would help him find a home in Florida,” Barreto shares. “I told him I wasn’t licensed there, and he said that he wouldn’t buy a home from anyone else, so I said I would.” Interest in her expansion and the Florida market has already grown among her clients. “There is a great market there for short- and long-term rentals, second homes and relocations,” she says.

Expansion comes with challenges, and Barreto looks forward to facing them head on with support from friends, family and clients. Known for her grit, integrity and dedication, she puts clients first and has built her business largely on referrals and introductions. “I absolutely love my clients. I feel so blessed to be in a career that I love, helping others and facilitating them through one of the biggest decisions of their lives,” Barreto says.

Barreto uses a multipoint approach to help clients sell their homes quickly. She is strategic with buying, and for investors, she creates spreadsheets to determine whether a property’s return on investment is worth the purchase. Barreto says her clients repeatedly work with her, and one even said, “There are a lot of things that change in my life, but my Realtor isn’t one of them.”

In her time off, Barreto has assisted with the marketing and launch of a new product called Hardly Water. She is also active with the Alzheimer’s Association, which is close to her heart because her father recently passed away from the disease. She also works with other nonprofits, such as Angelwish, which grants wishes to children suffering from chronic illnesses, and the H Foundation, supporting Northwestern University’s Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center.
