Real estate and architecture are Michaela Gordon’s two passions. After graduating from Mies van der Rohe School of Architecture at Illinois Tech, Gordon created her own path. A broker and junior architect with @properties Christie’s International Real Estate, Gordon gets to pursue both of her dreams at one company.
“There are no rules other than giving the very best service,” she says. “To this day, I pride myself on that.”
Gordon works from the Bucktown office but has expert knowledge of all the neighborhoods in and surrounding the city. During her nine years as a broker, Gordon has sold co-ops in Kenwood, single-family homes from Irving Park to Lake Zurich, condos in Wheeling and new construction in the South Loop. “Homes are my business,” she explains. “Wherever and whatever size they might be.”
When she’s not selling homes and working on renovations for clients, Gordon connects with her network through her podcast geared toward women in business. “Sometimes it’s tips and tricks for clients, sometimes it’s about building my business and roadblocks I’m facing, but generally it’s something relevant for everyone listening,” she says. The podcast brings together women from all different entrepreneurial and business situations.
She also connects with clients by journaling about showings, posting stories and design projects on social media and publishing a bi-monthly newsletter. “It’s all going to help in the long run to create this community and funnel the right clients to me and my business,” she explains.
Gordon served on the Chicago Association of Realtors’ YPN Committee for three years and is a former board member of the Women’s Council of Realtors. A first-generation Ukrainian American, she spent a lot of time this year helping Ukraine and intends to assist with housing refugees. “This is something of massive important to me, as I too am a child of Ukrainian refugees,” she says. “Real estate allows me to help in an incredible way!”
