Aimee Renkes, Senior Vice President of Mortgage Lending

Proper Rate

With 17 years of experience in the mortgage lending industry, Aimee Renkes, senior vice president of mortgage lending with Proper Rate, loves to roll up her sleeves and strategize with buyers and agents to be successful with all the wild movements in the housing market—and she has solutions for the challenges they bring.

“I focus on educating and truly caring about each buyer’s outcome and working directly with their agent to bring deals together,” she says. Renkes says using a three-step process to clarify and set expectations with each client helps them understand and manage financing optimally. Transparent by nature, Renkes and her team deliver and discuss detailed cost analyses at preapproval, during negotiations and under contract so buyers can make informed decisions. “My consultative approach is a differentiator and leads to loyal clients and agent partners,” she says. Her impact is measurable—clients report feeling confident in her responsive, accessible, organized and personable style.

In 2021, Renkes closed more than $54 million in mortgages—her career-best unit and volume year—and she achieved senior vice president status with Proper Rate. In a year when refinances were still popular, more than 60 percent of her business was home purchase. A mixture of past client repeats and referrals, agents, local network, and several attorneys and financial planners comprises her business today.

“I take a very hands-on approach and focus on individual client needs, whether that’s hand holding and accessibility or communication and a quick, smooth approval to close,” Renkes says. “I’m often texting or chatting with clients and my agent partners in the evening or on weekends to make sure they are getting answers and support. I don’t rely on my team to do all of that for me.”

An active and community-oriented wife and mom, Renkes has raised more than $30,000 for rare cancer research by hosting an epic annual Halloween party benefitting Cycle for Survival. She also pledges a donation to the Guaranteed Rate Foundation for each closing.
