In an industry that was once dominated by men, meet the female powerhouses who are taking the mortgage industry by storm. Carin Buchanan, Melissa Guerra and Sandra Keys of loanDepot have more than 75 years of combined experience as seasoned individual mortgage bankers. The trio has their own team, which allows them to deliver world-class service to their clients and business partners.
With each comprised of her own unique personality and industry experience, together they leave a lasting impression with customer service excellence, spice, knowledge and bilingual services to the Hispanic market. They share the common goal of making the dream of home ownership a reality for everyone.
For Sandra Keys, it was a small opportunity that would later open the doorway to her future in lending. Melissa Guerra’s career started early in real estate; often encountering problematic situations or dishonesty in the loan industry, she decided she could make a difference as a mortgage banker. Buchanan began her career in the mortgage industry in 1993, noting, “Buying a home may be one of the biggest purchases in someone’s life. It is crucial that they work with someone they trust and who can answer all of their questions.”
Buchanan remarks that it’s her goal not only to be a client’s trusted loan consultant throughout their initial homebuying experience, but also a resource for a lifetime. Both Guerra and Buchanan say they owe their success to providing calm, communication and knowledge during the entire process. The trio shares countless awards between them, ranking in the top 1% in the Scotsman Guide, as well as making loanDepot’s Chairman’s Elite level.
Keys’ love for the mortgage industry inspired her daughter to pursue the same career and recently become a partner in the business, an accomplishment Keys senior is very proud of. “Eventually we all just decided to rock this,” says Keys. “We just ride this roller coaster of emotions together and always try and bring laughter into our day.”
