Buying a home is a pivotal moment in life, and Bob Carr decided he wanted to be part of this experience for others when he bought his own home over 20 years ago. He became a loan officer shortly thereafter, and his dedication and genuine passion for the business since then has brought him enduring success. Over the years, Carr has been ranked among the nation’s top originators by industry trade publication Scotsman Guide and recognized as one of the top 1% of mortgage originators in America by Mortgage Executive magazine.
Today, as a senior vice president of residential lending at Draper and Kramer Mortgage Corp.’s downtown Chicago branch, Carr takes a personal approach with each of his clients. “My main goal is to make my customers comfortable,” he says. “That includes educating them about the process, being available to answer questions and preventing any roadblocks before they become an issue.” Because he’s hands-on from preapproval to closing and beyond, Carr’s client base consists mostly of referrals from past customers and professional partners.
Carr works with borrowers from all walks of life, including first-time homebuyers and buyers of second homes and investment properties, but his favorite aspect of every transaction is the opportunity to share in his clients’ experiences. “I’m honored to be a part of this process for so many people,” he says. “I love seeing my clients excited about their new homes and am always grateful they have entrusted me with this responsibility.”
Having reached the 20-year mark in his mortgage career, Carr is looking toward the future and believes 2021 will be one of his best years ever. It may even rival 2020, in which he closed over $91 million in loan volume, helped over 225 individuals with their home financing and earned a spot in the President’s Club, an exclusive group for his company’s top originators.
When he’s not helping his clients close loans, Carr often can be found spending quality time with his wife and two children, traveling and enjoying warm-weather activities.
