Maurice Hampton, President

Serving over 15,500 real estate practitioners, the Chicago Association of REALTORS® provides education, advocacy and resources to members and their clients. Its diverse and dedicated leadership team reflects the association’s membership.

CEO Michelle Mills Clement works hard to engage CAR members by meeting them where they’re at: in their communities. She’s greatly expanded the association’s toolbox, most recently through The 77, appointing a dedicated representative to each of Chicago’s neighborhoods to advocate for and represent the entire city. “We are excited to continue to create opportunities for our association to directly impact our communities through the industry,” she says.

Maurice Hampton is not only the president of CAR but also a well-regarded real estate instructor who shares his expertise in investment, property management, appraisals, contract negotiation and sales to help his peers gain knowledge and grow their careers. “Relentless focus on collaboration, diversity, development and community helped us respond swiftly to the challenges of the past year,” says Hampton. “I’m honored to work with the best and brightest to have a positive impact on our city and industry.”

President-Elect Nykea Pippion McGriff is passionate about real estate advocacy, serving as a federal political coordinator for U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush. She uses her platform to champion greater minority representation in industry leadership. “CAR’s diversity, specifically in the board of directors, is what we should be striving for in associations all over the country,” she says. “I am proud and honored to pave the way for future leaders.”

Treasurer Antje Gehrken is actively involved in CAR’s commercial and community development initiatives and holds a Certified Commercial Investment Member designation, which has only been earned by 6% of commercial real estate practitioners. “I am excited to see CAR’s growth and grateful to witness many overdue firsts and serve on a board that truly represents all of Chicago,” Gehrken says.

Immediate Past President Tommy Choi is the first to champion volunteer leadership. Next year, he’ll serve as the vice president of association affairs for the National Association of REALTORS®, ensuring Chicago is connected on a national level. “I always encourage new members to get involved early and often, and I can’t wait to continue to contribute on a larger scale,” Choi says.
