After working in sales and management for a decade in the high-end leather goods industry, Bill White became tired of traveling and missing his children’s activities and important events. Moving into real estate seemed perfect; it didn’t require travel, but it did involve helping people. “It led me to find a career where I could make a difference and see my family,” he says.
White grew up in Glen Ellyn and has lived in Naperville for 40 years, which allows him to offer expert advice about moving to his corner of Chicagoland. He fondly recalls learning his territory by driving through the area daily.
Now a senior broker with Baird & Warner in Naperville, White works with his wife, Mary, who oversees marketing and social media platforms for the business. They focus on always putting clients first. “They love our service and attention to detail,” White says. “They trust us.”
That trust was put to the test during the mid-March coronavirus-related lockdown, when White sold a home to a family living out of state virtually, conducting two walk-throughs via FaceTime. The inspection was also done using online tools. “The first time they actually stepped foot in the home was an hour before closing,” White says. “Fortunately, they loved it!”
Nearly four decades of assisting everyone from first-time buyers to luxury sellers in Naperville and DuPage County has given White the ability to anticipate a potential hurdle in a transaction and solve it before it arises. “I let my clients drive the bus for the most part and only jump in the driver’s seat if we veer off the road that heads toward our goals,” he says. This approach has also led to a lot of referral business and a third generation of buyers and sellers seeking his expertise.
In his free time, White supports a number of charities, plays golf and enjoys being a grandparent.
