Although Elizabeth Lothamer intended to land a job in sales or marketing after college, everything changed once she took a real estate course. After she became licensed, Lothamer worked on a couple of teams before creating her own at @properties: Lothamer & Company, which specializes in real estate sales, development and design. Named a Chicago Association of Realtors Top Producer in residential volume and units from 2014 through 2018, Lothamer has worked in real estate for 16 years.

Working with first-time buyers and seasoned investors has led to repeat business. “Now that I have my team to facilitate a lot of the client interaction, I am also able to focus on my own development projects,” she says.

One of those team members, Evelyn Clifford, gets a thrill from pairing a new homeowner with a good home in a neighborhood they are excited about. A recipient of @properties’ Outstanding Achievement award in 2017 and 2018 and named among its Top Team Producers for three consecutive years — 2016, 2017 and 2018 — Clifford attributes her success to her emotional intelligence. “I have a keen understanding of personalities and work to relate to my clients and fully understand their wants and needs when it comes to buying or selling a home,” she says.

A background in interior design helps Megaan Pelaar showcase listings in the best possible light. Pelaar loves teaching first-time homebuyers the ins and outs of purchasing a property. “By educating them, I help them feel they are part of the process and the transaction goes more smoothly,” she says.

Before going into real estate, Marta Romeo-Waliszewska managed a Michelin-starred restaurant. Her team received @properties’ 2017 and 2018 Top Producing Team award. A new mom, she recently overcame the challenge of work-life balance by learning how to time block from a life coach.

Through a day of service, this year the Lothamer & Company team will decorate a house for Humble Design, an organization that serves individuals, families and veterans emerging from homelessness.
