Rafay Qamar has a natural entrepreneurial spirit and an endless drive to create and inspire. As a broker of Rafay Qamar Group, Qamar works with a diverse array of clients within the entire Chicagoland market and North Shore suburbs, assisting buyers, sellers and investors from all backgrounds, budgets and life stages.

“Collectively, my colleagues and I speak over eight languages, and we harness our combined knowledge, research and specialties to work with millennials, first-time homebuyers, luxury buyers and sellers — not just locally, but globally,” he says, adding that they take an individualized approach to every transaction to deliver an elevated level of customer service. “We are on track to hit the $60 million goal we’ve set for this year. As we continue to grow our team, we are gearing up to reach $100 million in sales for 2019.

Qamar is also the co-owner of RE/MAX NEXT. Founding the brokerage in 2017 with co-owner Mike Opyd, he set out to create an agent-centric brokerage dedicated to providing brokers with the knowledge, technology, connections and opportunities they needed to earn a fair commission and succeed in the market. Qamar and his team continue to prioritize customer service, creating personal relationships out of business transactions and offering clients superior technology and services.

Prior to joining the real estate industry five years ago, Qamar worked for BMO Harris Bank, ranking among the top 1 percent of bankers in the company. He also owned and operated a music management company and was a partner in a Chicago-based mobile cupcake company. Eager to pursue an alternative path that would allow him to propel his career forward on his own terms, he transitioned to real estate, easily translating the skills he acquired in corporate America and the finance industry.

Since then, he’s earned the Accredited Buyer’s Representative, Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist, Certified Negotiation Expert and Short Sales & Foreclosure Resource designations, and is a member of the Million Dollar Guild and board member of Young Professionals Network at the North Shore–Barrington Association of Realtors. He’s previously earned entry into both the RE/MAX Platinum Club and the President’s Circle, and was featured in Top Agent magazine last year. What’s the key to his success? “Hard work and no days off. Work ethic is the only thing that makes you successful in the real estate industry. We have to work harder and smarter than everyone else.”

In his spare time, Qamar enjoys reading, journaling and traveling. “I have travelled to more than 15 countries and plan on visiting two new countries every year,” he says.
