First Centennial Mortgage
Karth Barr, Midwest district manager for First Centennial Mortgage, is on track to have a record year. After 22 years in the industry, Barr knows that the inner workings of a team are crucial to the success of any business.
Barr’s interest in the industry was sparked during his time studying economics and finance at the University of Minnesota. While still in college, he began his career in 1996, and is approaching $600 million in closed mortgage volume. He credits much of his success to his ability to recognize that every new client is unique, and that each situation requires special attention. This is where the importance of working with a close-knit team comes into play. This year, Karth and his brother Chris Barr decided to work together once again, along with the addition of key inside production manager Megan Scott, solidifying and strengthening his core team. This core team foundation has been the key not only to his growth, but to his team of loan officers’ continued growth as well. “The foundation of a team precedent was set by the owners of First Centennial Mortgage,” he says. “I have continued to build on that philosophy, as the stronger the team, the more games we win.”
Barr works both in Chicagoland and the surrounding Midwest. He specializes in serving a variety of clients, including veterans, first-time buyers and investors. His work also centers around credit and liability management, and he works to educate partners on how to grow their own business. “My team has created an approach unmatched in our industry designed for the development of our referral partners,” he says.
Barr’s unique financial approach has evolved into a financial education series with both Realtors around the area and the veteran community. In fact, the U.S. military has selected him and his financial education series to educate our veterans on credit and finances. Through his work, he aims to act as a mentor in an effort to help clients build a strong financial foundation.
Barr’s dedication to working attentively with each client has led his business to grow immensely through referrals alone. Outside of work, Barr enjoys spending time with his family, whom he says are the best teammates of all. “My wife has been by my side since my rookie year,” he says, “and her support along with our two sons have been the fuel for my drive to succeed year in and year out!”
