Erwin Law LLC
James Erwin founded Erwin Law LLC over 25 years ago, creating a team that now consists of eight attorneys who serve clients dutifully in four practice areas. With his attention turned towards real estate, Erwin represents buyers, sellers, investors, developers and condominium and homeowner associations, as well as landlords and private lenders in Illinois’ residential and commercial markets.
“I am entrepreneurial by nature, so I share my clients’ business interests when it comes to real estate,” he says. “I know real estate investing and developing firsthand, so I bring that personal experience along with my training and experience as a lawyer to the table.”
In 2017, each of Erwin Law’s practice areas experienced growth. The firm’s real estate services saw the greatest increase in revenue: 15 percent. “I have a great sense of pride in our firm’s reputation of quality and experience,” he says, adding that because of their continued success, they were able to give over $50,000 in donations to Chicago-based charities last year alone.
Erwin is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Community Associations Institute and the Board of Directors of the Lane Tech 2nd Century Foundation. He has received the Martindale Hubbell BV Distinguished Rating for exceptional ability and ethics for 15 consecutive years.
In conjunction with the company’s philanthropic endeavors, Erwin supports Housing Opportunities for Women; Merit School of Music; Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International; Welles Park Parents Association; the Lane Tech 2nd Century Foundation; the St. Baldrick’s Foundation; and the Chicago Zoological Society, among other organizations.
