Housing inventory in March was nearly 20 percent lower than a year ago, and though that’s the smallest yearly decline since 2011, inventory shortages have been plaguing housing markets across the country.

But what of Chicago’s neighborhoods? Which ones are currently flush with inventory, and which ones are offering slim pickings? HomeFinder.com studied its current listing data, and came up with the 10 Chicago neighborhoods with the most and least inventory.

Inventory is low mut the numbers presented don’t mean anything cause they are not relative as they are shoeing absolute inventory available, irrespective of area size and without comparison to previous benchmark. Near North Side is biggest geography and then Lakeview, so shocking, they have the most inventory. But what is their inventory in their respective areas compared to last year?

    Greg,

Comparing with last year would be important if the article were about trends, but it is only about raw numbers of “most and least inventory.” What you mention obviously would be important with regards to some decisions that need to be made when purchasing a home. These numbers do let me know whether there might be listings, however.
