Every year, it’s astounding how quickly December arrives. I feel like it was just a few weeks ago that I was enjoying a Cubs game at Wrigley Field in a t-shirt and shorts, and now I can’t go near the great outdoors without a massive jacket, hat and gloves. I will never be a fan of the cold weather or the slush, but my blood is definitely getting thicker since leaving California over four years ago.
We’ve had some exciting issues of the magazine this year, some have been praised for their innovative insight, while others received a different kind of passionate response. Either way, we’re happy to make a wave in the industry. Our Truth About Agents issue revealed a lot of secrets that agents might not want you to know, while our Playing By the New Rules issue pointed out why following the rules is so important in our industry.
As usual, this year has been a doozy. I’ve met a lot of new agents, and I’ve also bid farewell to those that have left the industry all together. As the holiday season approaches, I enjoy seeing all my friends and colleagues at the various holiday parties throughout Chicagoland.
Like 2009, 2010 was a difficult year for the housing market. However, this year was better than 2009, and if we keep seeing improvements, small or large, then 2011 is poised to be even greater. Regardless, I admire those who stick to their guns and stay with an industry that quite often kicks them in the shins.
Some experts predict recovery as soon as next year, while others think we will have to wait until 2013. Either way, your task as a Realtor is to keep doing what works, and move forward with your business the best way that you can. Those are the people who will find success, and when the market returns they will be justly rewarded.
Try to stay warm this winter, and appreciate all that has happened in 2010. Look back briefly, and then look forward to whatever 2011 may bring. Happy holidays and a happy New Year!
