Judy Gibbons’ personal motto is “you only live once,” and her commitment to that principle is best exemplified by her Huzenis Award. An honor her colleagues bestowed on her for exemplifying leadership, advocacy, and excellence in her career – as well as strong ethics and a commitment to helping others – the award defines Gibbons’ strong relationships with her peers, and shows how she translates those passions to serve her clients. “I’m the survivor of a devastating tornado, so I believe we’re all here for a reason,” says the 11-year real estate veteran and Jameson Sotheby’s top producer. “Have fun, work hard, be kind, and give more than you take.”

Gibbons knows firsthand how much hard work it takes to establish a successful career in a competitive market. She is the daughter of a self- made real estate developer, and she inherited his entrepreneurial spirit. Before going into real estate, Gibbons owned a New York-based clothing company. Not only did it teach her that “quality is paramount,” but the experience also imposed upon her the importance of customer service. And it has paid off. Her attention to detail, efforts to exceed clients’ expectations, and consistent referral-based business are just a few reasons why she now has more than 22,000 social media followers.

Today, Gibbons primarily serves sellers, and specializes in both downsizing and lifestyle properties, such as equestrian estates, golf communities, historic and waterfront homes, and pied-à-terre lodging. Gibbons also loves her first- time homebuyers, who are often the children of her current clients. She is an expert in creatively marketing homes to drive traffic to her listings. “I like to think outside the box to attract serious buyers,” Gibbons said, explaining that she once encouraged a seller to write a song about his house – which drew attention (and free promotion) from Crain’s Chicago Business and WGN-Radio.

Personally, Gibbons is proud of her three college- educated daughters, who have found success pursuing their own careers. A member of the National, Illinois, and Chicago Associations of Realtors, she also serves as treasurer of the Chicago chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors and chairperson of the national focus committee for the Illinois chapter of that association. Gibbons also supports many charities that enable and uplift women and children. She continues to fuel her creative side by traveling, checking out new restaurants, and spending time with her friends, while remembering to breathe and seize the opportunity to simply appreciate the simple things in life. Carpe diem!
