Native Michigander Peggy Sayre has an extensive background in both residential and commercial real estate. Following in her father’s footsteps as an investor, she owns multiple short- and long-term rentals in Chicago’s western suburbs and Michigan. She worked as a Realtor and raised her family in Hinsdale, Illinois, and joined the Dawn McKenna Group in 2016 before returning to her home state in 2022.
Sayre got into real estate 21 years ago thinking it would be a part-time effort when her sons were young, but it quickly turned into a full-time career. Now representing the Dawn McKenna Group in Harbor Country’s Coldwell Banker office, Sayre focuses on lake communities extending from Michigan City, Indiana, up to Sawyer, Michigan. “I’ve always been intrigued by the west side of Michigan,” she shares. “It makes me feel like I am on vacation.”
Known for her attention to detail, professionalism and integrity, Sayre works with investors like herself as well as clients looking for vacation homes and other luxury lakefront properties, single-family homes, land, or condos.
Growing up, Sayre saw how many families her father helped through his rental properties in her hometown. “He and his partners always bought the ugliest house on the street, then renovated it and placed tenants into the homes, creating beauty on each block where they purchased,”she remembers.
Her early career as an event planner at the busy Merchandise Mart in Chicago helped Sayre perfect the keen organizational skills she would need for real estate, where buying or selling a home is a complex event in itself. “There are so many moving parts of a transaction, and no two transactions are the same,” she acknowledges.
Sayre earned her bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant. The empty-nester now lives in New Buffalo, where she enjoys the lake life.
