These Chicagoland real estate companies are ‘Top Workplaces’

by Emily Mack

The Chicago Tribune ranked Chicagoland’s Top Workplaces — and several residential real estate companies cracked the list.

Working in conjunction with Energage, the results recognize 158 Chicagoland companies across industries that maintain a high-performance culture. The ranking is based on employee feedback, gathered through a third-party survey, and divided into three categories: large companies (1,000+ employees), mid-sized companies (250–999 employees) and small companies (fewer than 250 employees).

Notably, the top three large companies and the No. 1 midsize company were all residential real estate brokerages.

Among the large companies, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago (BHHS Chicago) came in at No. 1. This marks the company’s sixth year making the list and its fourth time, third in a row, snagging the No. 1 spot.

“We are so excited to be named the No. 1 Top Workplace in Chicago for the third year in a row,” BHHS Chicago CEO Diane Glass said in a press release. “This award is especially meaningful because it’s based on feedback from our agents and employees who shared they love our professional, fun and inclusive culture.”

BHSS Chicago was followed directly by @properties Christie’s International Real Estate at No. 2 and COMPASS at No. 3. The lender Wintrust also came in at No. 11.

Among midsized companies, Dream Town Real Estate came in at No. 1. “This award highlights Dream Town’s exceptional workplace culture, which emphasizes professional development, employee appreciation, and overall well-being,” the company said in a statement. “Brokers who join Dream Town can expect to be treated with the utmost respect by managers and staff who genuinely care about their personal and professional growth.”

Dream Town was followed on the list by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Starck Real Estate at No. 3, Kale Realty at No. 4 and Fulton Grace at No. 9.

Among small companies, some real estate firms, lenders and developers made the list: john greene Realtor at No. 3, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation at No. 8, Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation at No. 14, Sterling Bay at No. 15, Proper Title at No. 36, PulteGroup at No. 58 and Compass Mortgage Inc. at No. 66.
