The dirty truth about agents

by Agent X

Ahh, the annual Truth About Agents issue. It’s what you came here for: an incisive, behind-the-scenes breakdown of your fellow real estate professionals. But isn’t that what I always do? I bring the truth about agents, every month, for you loyal readers. So, let’s get to it! Truth be told, it was a busy month in the real estate community.

On March 9, the Building Industry Association of Greater Chicago held its 50th Annual Key Awards ceremony at the Cosentino City Chicago Showroom in River North. Hosted by architect Kevin Kazimer, it was a fun and historic night for the association, and you can read more about it in this issue! Check out the full list of winners.

The Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® also had a jam-packed session. On March 8, they hosted an International Women’s Day event at Empress Banquets in Addison: Celebrating Women in Real Estate. Hundreds of real estate professionals attended the day which included lunch and featured a series of accomplished panelists — including Chicago Agent magazine’s own Marci Sepulveda, our fearless publisher. On March 21, Mainstreet also held a Taco Tuesday Mastermind party at their Rolling Meadows office. The keynote speaker was Tommy Choi, and everyone wore their freshest kicks.

Dream Town Realty hit a big milestone: the company’s 25th anniversary. Dream Town celebrated the event on March 23 with a swanky party at Chicago’s Theater on the Lake. The same day, Compass Realtor Nadiia Glavin and Dennis Huyck of Keller Williams hosted another successful dodgeball tournament to raise money for Ukraine.

There were also some big association events on tap. On March 29, the Chicago Association of REALTORS® scheduled its annual sales awards at Navy Pier. The following day, on March 30, the Dearborn Realtist Board – Chicago Realtist planned its 2023 Installation Gala and Awards Ceremony at the South Shore Cultural Center — stay tuned for more details on both those swanky parties.

And, as the Chicago winter thaws, we’re warming up with some birthday celebrations. First, there’s Ellen Miller on April 3, then on April 8, a three-fer: Dennis Dooley, Carrie Jo Little and our resident techie Anne Ewasko. On April 11, Dennis Huyck turns a year older followed by Lauren Mitrick on April 12 and Dennis Shaffer on April 14. Lots of Dennis birthdays! The week after, Judy Gibbons and David Wolf celebrate on April 18 and 19, respectively. Then it’s time for buddies Tommy Choi and Josh Weinberg to party — the business partners share a 4-20 birthday. Woo! Two days later is Chad Gilbert’s b-day on April 22 followed by Sam Sharp’s on April 24. Then, on April 25, another three-fer: Leigh Marcus, Jennifer Mills Klatt and Ivette Rodriguez Anderson. And the next week is full of birthdays, too: Monica Canellis, Stephen Hnatow and Tim Brigham have birthdays on April 26, April 27 and April 28, respectively, followed up by birthday twins Nancy Taylor and Steve McEwen on April 29. Marty Winefield rounds out the month with his April 30 birthday.
