Several Illinois high schools rank among best in the nation — see the full list

As any parent can tell you, school districts are a top consideration when buying a new home. But where exactly are the top schools? The online education resource Niche has released a new national ranking of the best public high schools — and the city of Chicago features heavily on the list.

To determine college readiness and the overall school experience, Niche looks at a number of factors. The comprehensive methodology considers test scores, graduation rates, student-teacher ratios and advanced placement enrollment alongside more qualitative assets like athletics, extracurricular opportunities and positive student body feedback. Taking this all into account, Niche’s national high school ranking is as follows:
