Mike Checuga has joined RE/MAX NEXT, bringing the brokerage up to 53 agents. 

Checuga, who has a major presence in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, has been an award-winning agent in Chicago for two decades. “I have always loved the area I live in and want to work in the neighborhood that has been so good to me,” he said.

He has a passion for community, theater and causes that make a difference in people’s lives, according to a statement from the brokerage, and has volunteered and been involved with Maryville Academy, Children’s Memorial Hospital, Catholic Charities, Special Olympics and many other nonprofits.

“We’re always looking to grow,” Mike Opyd, co-owner and managing broker at RE/MAX NEXT, said in a telephone interview, adding, “But we’re selective with who we bring on.” 

Opyd said the brokerage is projected to close on around $175 million this year, a $15 million increase over 2020. 

Cheguga most recently worked at RE/MAX 10 in the brokerage’s Lincoln Park office.
